The hero of the day in western Washington, in the United States, is a big Alsatian dog named Arnold von Winkeriried. His latest feat was the rescue of a boy scout after the young man had been lost for more than three days in the dense woods of the Cascade Mountains. After a number of searching parties had failed in their attempts to find the man, the dog succeeded. This is his thirteenth rescue; •and so far he has never had a failure.
