Regarding the opposition in the House of Representatives to the clause in the Tramways Bill, relating to the levels of the Main South road near Sockburn, the chairman of the Board (Mr A. S. Taylor) told a representative of The Press yesterday that the Board had exhausted all means of arrfving at an agreement with the Paparua County Council on the. subject. There was no doubt that the position of the tramway line was dangerous, but the line was laid according to levels supplied by the local authoritv. The County Council had built the road up. and, latterly constructed a portion of it in bitumen, thereby making the position worse. If the clause did not become law presumably the alternative was to wait til! an accident hanpeneel when, no doubt, both County Council and Tramway Board would be sued by the injured person.
