ENGLISH PARK STADIUM.
* • SATURDAY NIGHT'S SPORTS. ■ Motor-paced racing will take .place at English Park Stadium next Saturday night. Six riders will participate in two heats of a two miles handicap race.. The pacers, mounted on motor-cycles fitted with rollers, will be W. J. (Fritz) Holland, Len Scuffle, and Eddie Marra. These three riders havo had considerable experience as pacemakers, and, working in conjunction with the riders, will provide the public with a series of thrills from start to finish. In the past two riders only have ridden in motor-paced races, and have always had the spectators on their toes with excitement. With three riders following motor pace on the track at the .same time in Jhe three miles handicap and the riders passing and re-passing each other, should ronse the spectators to a high pitch of enthusiasm. . The selected riders in the motor-paced race are Willie Mackie, an adept at the art of pace-following, J. Bearman, and Jack Henderson, both notable sprinters, Clarrie Bright, W T. Weir, and Eddie Condon. The entries for the open cycling events are coming in freely, and a select field will ride in the two miles paced match race and the half and one mile open handicaps. A flat handicap of 880 yards has been added to the programme, which is, without doubt, the most attractive that has been submitted to the Christchurch public for several years.
