CRYSTAL PALACE.
in "Rolled Stockings" the cast (is a talented one of young actors and actresses from the Paramount junior stars. Leading them are Louise Brooks, James Hall, and Richard Arleu. They portray in excellent fashion the life ot* an American University, where the undergraduates are compelled •to go through a series of weird initiation ceremonies before being admitted to equal terms with their more sophisticated brothers of a year's standing. The story tells of two lads, sons of a father who stroked the boat crew of '95; they are sent to their family's old college. One makes the boat-crew; the other confers glory on his college by earning the title of its best-dressed man. Both, however, find they have, in one direction at least, similar tastes. In fact, the girl herself does not know which to choose till she decides that a man who can get in the rowing eight is superior to another, even if he is well dressed. Laughs in plenty await those who go to see this truly enjoyable picture. Supporting this is a drama of social life, entitled "Ladies of Leisure." The c*rama provides plenty of thrills and exciting moments. The leading roles are in the capable hands of Elaine Hammerstein and Robert Ellis, who make the most of the parts allotted to them, without falling into the common fault of over-acting.
