LYTTELTON NEWS.

Billiards. J. Ashley won the Lyttelton Club's weekly flying fifty billiards tournament on Monday night, defeating E. Khind in the final. Eoso Show. The annual rose show and sale of work of St. John's Presbyterian Church will be opened in the Drill Hall to-morrow afternoon. A good display of flowers and vegetables is assured, On Friday afternoon a baby show will be held. New Harbour Launch. The Lyttelton Harbour Ferries Company's new launch Owuka was discharged yesterday afternoon from the Union Company's Waipiata. The Owaka later made a preliminary trip in the inner harbour, where she was the the centre of considerable interest. Harbour Light Theatre. There was a well-filled house at the Harbour Light Theatre last evening, when a programme of pictures and vaudeville wa,s presented. The pictures screoned were "Lost at the Front," a comedy starring George Sidney and Charlie Murray, and 'The Merry Cavalier," fouturing Richard Talmadge. The vaudeville was ably provided by Tilton and West, two comedians already well-known in vaudeville circles. Their bright songs and clever patter proved most acceptable to the audience, and they had to respond to insistent recalls. The picture, portion of the programme will be repeated to-night. To-morrow "Beau Geste," a drama from the novel by P. C. Wren, will be screened. It is a story of brotherly love, of fierce fighting, and of sacrifice, and the leading players include Ronald Colman, Alice Joyce, Noah Beory, and Mary Brian. A Century comedy and a newsreel will also he shown, and "Beau Geste" will be presented with special orchestral music. The reserve plan is now open at King and Cousins. Owing to the length of the programmes, and the expressed wish of a large number of patrons, the commencing time will, from to-night, revert to 7.30 p.m.
