POWER BOARD.
BANKS PENINSULA. A meeting of the Peninsula Power Board -vvas held last week, there being present: Messrs 3. E. Thacker (chairman), Q. Armstrong, J. V. Chapman, C. E. Kay, and A. M. Helps. The chairman welcomed' Mr Helps as the Akaroa County Council's representative, and the newly-appointed member took his seat at the table. The secretary reported that 26 consumers had been notified in connexion with disused lines and only five replies had been received. •It was decided that the engineer personally interview the balance of the consumers before the lines are finally dismantled. Messrs S. Wells and C. Shuttleworth waited on the Board in reference to irregular voltage at Chorlton, and complained that it interfered with the running of their dairy "°Th¥ engineer explained that the trouble was due to the automatic regulator at Lake Coleridge being out of order, and the voltage was being temporarily regulated by hand. ' It was decided to notify the Public Worka Department of the complaint. ' The engineer reported that reconstruction and replacement work had been carried rjt it the Motukarara-Price's Valley end,' the work consisting of replacing defective poles
and constructing: high tension lines in place of low tension ones. Low tension lines had been extended to eight consumeri. New installations comprising 31 points had been completed, making an additional connected load of 35 kilowatts. It was decided to install a petrol pump en the Board's property at Duvauchelle. The chairman and engineer were deputed to wait on the next meeting of the Akaroa and ■\Vainui Road Board in connexion with tne flooding of the property at Duvauchelle. The chairman, Mr Kay, the secretary, and engineer were appointed to attend the conference of supply authorities to be held on November 17th in reference to having one Power Board to control the area from tht Waimakariri river to the Balcais river. The Godley House, at Diamond Harbour, was placed on the commercial users rat*. _ One objection was received to the raiting of the £15,000 loan. The chairman received the thank* of the Board for returning the cheque for hj» travelling expenses and remuneration. The engineer was authorised to procure necessary material required at a cost of #384.
