(BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOClATlON—cofvright.) (AUSTRALIAN AND K.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.)
LONDON, November 11. Timothy Hooley has been received into the Catholic Church. There is a piquancy in connexion with the news, as at the height of his success Hoolev presented to St. Paul's Cathedral a £3OOO set of gold plate, which was handed to his creditors when Hoolev became bankrupt.
[Hooley was imprisoned for fraud in connexion with company promotion, the case exciting wide interest at the time, as very Targe sums were concerned.]
