SATURDAY'S FROST

A frost of four and a half degrees was registered at the Meteorological Observatory in the Botanic Gardens on Saturday morning and did a certain amount of damage throughout the City and suburbs.

In the Bryndwr district potato and vegetable crops suffered, but tomatoes were not affected. In North Canterbury it is feared that the frost will have damaged the stone fruit. _ Frosts in November are not unusual in Canterbury, a frost of 4.8 degrees being recorded on November 7th. 192(1, and one of 9.7 degrees on November 27th, 1925.
