Harbour XJght Theatre. •'Brums of the Desert," a Zane Grev f-tory featuring Warner Baxter and Ford sterling, "The Wrong Mr Wright," a comedy starring Jean Hersholt and Enid Bennett, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night, together with a comedy. Tomorrow night an exceptionally attractive programme of pictures and 'vaudeville will bo presented. The pictures are a comedy. "Lost at the Front," featuring George Sidney and Charlie Murray, and "The Merry Cavalier," a comedy-romance starring Richard Talmadge. The vaudeville section will be provided by those, well-knpwu comedy artists, Tilton and West. These two present an entirely new brand of good-class humour, and their smart patter keeps the audience in a continual state of merriment. .Chur&h .Mission. The Devotion known as the Forty Hours' Adoration, began in St. Joseph's Church yesterday with Mass at 10.30 a.m., the Celebrant being the Rev. Father J. McMonagle. In tho evening the occasional sermon was preached by the Kcv. Dr. Kennedy, of Christchurch. Both services were very largely attended. The altar had been most beautifully decorated with flowers and candles. The Devotion will be brought to a closo tomorrow with tho 9 o'clock Mass, and a service will be conducted by the Kcv. Father P. Maddeu, of New Brighton. Armistice Service.
Holy Trinity Church was crowded last evening -when a special Armistice Day service was conducted by the vicar, the Rev. A. J. Petrie. A large number of returned soldiers were present, and also the Mayor and Councillors. The hymns, "Onward, Christian Soldiers," "Oh God Our Help in Ages Past," "The Churches' One Foundation," and "Praise My Soul the King of Heaven," were sung.'
The preacher took for his text Samuel 2.12.7 "Thou Art the Man." He said that by Nathan'B parable his sins were brought home to .David. In his poem, "Epilogue, 1914," John Oxenham showed that one man could have ensured the peace of the world if he would, but he preferred Might to Right. At -the eondusion »f the sermon Bandmaster W. Jefiriei sounded Last Post and Reveille. Prior to the service a short organ recital was -given by the organist, Mr A. A. Swabey, who played "Oh Father Whose Almighty Power" (Handel), selection from "The Messiah," "Licder ohne Worte" (Men-delssohn-Bartholdy), Adagio from first organ sonata (Mendehssohn), and "The Trumpet Shall Souud"- (Handel); HARBOUR LIGHT THEATRE.
