When Patrick O'Neill was fined £5 for a breach of the Stone Quarries Act, the inspector of quarries asked for expenses amounting to £8 10s, on the ground that he had come from Auckland, the train fare alone being £6 5s B<L Mr Eiddell, S.M.: Is there no person here who could have prosecuted? The Inspector: I was told to act. Mr Eiddell: It is ridiculous to bring a man from Auckland for a prosecution such as this- Expenses are not allowed.
