Considering the use of tin-hares unlawful, the committee of the Kockhampton Agricultural Society substituted a dummy kangaroo for a hare. This was dragged round the course behind a motor-cycle. This crude arrangement proved rea-sona-hly successful in its first trials. Betting was not allowed on the grounds, out while races were in progress, bookmakers left their stands and organised sweeps on them.
