SOUTH BRIGHTON.

SUCCESSFUL CARNIVAL. In spits of the cold southerly thers wsrs many hundreds of pleasure seeker* who patronised the Pleasant Point Boat and Yacht Club's carnival, held in the Pleasant Point Domain yesterday afternoon and evening. The splendid shelter provided by the pines and the brilliant sunshine considerably lessened the discomfort occasioned by wind squalls which, as the day wore on, decreased in force. The Domain was , gaily decked in bunting, and the stalls were decorated, tho club's colours being conspicuous. The children's oval, a very sheltered spot, on which there are shutes, swing boats, seesaws, etc, instantly found favour and were in keen domand by the youngsters. Cargeig, | organiser and secretary respectively, together with tho committee, left nothing to chance but' worked hard to ensure the success ot the carnival, the proceeds, of which are to be devoted to tho building fund of the club. A dance at. night on rather a large scale, concluded the effort.
