At Lansing, Michigan, Mr Justice Read declared the House of David cult, dominated by tho so-called "King" Benjamin Purnoll, a public nuisance, orf the grounds of immorality. The Judge refused to dissolve the colony because he lacked statutory, power, but ordered a receivership, which will take care of the claims of past and present members defrauded of their property and labour by Purnell. An injunction will also be issued restraining Purnell from further association with women members, except under proper protective conditions. The entire property of the eolony i» valued at 6,000,000 dollars. Purnell, who is now a chronic invalid, ie expected to appeal against the decision.
