The Hon. Mr Reed, M.L.C., wag a passenger to Christchurch by the ferry steamer yesterday.
Sir Hugh Stuart Forbes, of Marlborough, is at present staying at the United Service Hotel,
Messrs A. Hempton (Wellington) and C. €. Roberts (Ashburton) are among the recent arrivals at the Clarendon Hotel.
Mr A. E. Ansell, president of the South Island Motor Union, who has been visiting Christchurch, returned to Dunedin yesterday. Recent arrivals at Warner's Hotel include:— Messrs G. Magnus (Wellington), M. Bress (London), K, Scott, I. Scott (Timaru), and G. Pascoe (Reefton).
Mr H. E. Holland, Leader of the Opposition, was granted four days further leave of absence by the House of Representatives yesterday on account of illness.—Press Association. # Guests at the United Service Hotel include Telford (Wellington), P. Parsons (Blenheim), J. W. Angus, D. Macfarlane (Sydney), A. D. Seabrook (Auckland), and S. Millington (Wellington). Official advice has been recehtftl that the Rev. Hector Mao Lean, of St. Andrew's Church, Dunedin, has been appointed to the Hebrew Chair of the' Theological Hall, Ormond College, Melbourne—Press Association.
-Mr J. W, Collins, secretary of the .Department of Industries and Commerce, and Major T. M. Wilkes, M.C., Director of Air Services, New Zealand Military Forces,- arrived in Christchurch from tha north yeaterday.
