Acceptances for the Levin Annual Meeting close on Friday. The threc-vear-old gelding Streamer fetched a "hack" price at the bloodstock sale yesterday. He is to enter C\ Gieseler's stable at Wingatui.. and if he stands up to training, he should soon show a return.

The yearling brother to Noteworthy, purchased by Mr G. Gerard at the sale vesterday, is to join his relative at G. J. Pine's establishment. This youngster bears the mark of a severe flesh wound on one of his fetlocks, but the vendor. Mr I. G. Duncan, attached a contingency to the sale that if the buyer were not satisfied with the yearling at the end of three months, he could return him to Klderslie and receive a refund oMiis purchase money. Apart from the blemish referred to, the colt shows a lot of quality and exhibits marked signs of turning out a speedy galloper. Martarma gave a very disappointing display in the New Zealand Derby on Monday and showed unmistakeable signs of the want of previous racing, as compared with the majority of the field.

Ark Royal was unfavourably treated at the dispatch of the Derby field on Monday, otherwise he may have participated in the prize money. Chickwlieat was offered for sale at the Addington Show Grounds yesterday, but was passed in at 325 guineas. It is now his owner's intention to give him a few months' spell, after which the Australian gelding will probably be tried as a hurdler.

Crown Area was sore after his effort in the Stewards' Handicap, and this lias accounted for his non-appearance since.

The yearling filly by Paper Money from Sunny Corner, sold for 65 guineas at yesterday's sale, is one of twins, her mate being destroyed shortly after birth. It will be interesting to follow this filly's future career on the turf.

The redoubtable Limerick lias not raced at Riccarton since he downed Commendation in the Challenge Stakes on April 6th of last year, and his remarkable run of successes Bince then in Australia, and on his return at the recent Wellington Meeting will be a big draw-card to-day. He will also be produced on Saturday in the G. 6. Stead Gold Cup. His trainer, F. D. Jonee, has trained three previous winners of the two and a quarter mile race in Reputation. Amytlias, and Ballymena, Limerick's half-brother, and figured himself as the jider of Menschikoff, who prevailed in 1901. Reputation also won the Stead Cup in 1914.

The best time record in previous contests, for the Canterbury Cup was 3.52, registered bv Gasbag in 1922 and Gold Light in 1924.

Two years ago, Mr I. G. Duncan sent two mares to Australia to be mated with Sarchedon, but only one, Lake tlru, proved in foal. This youngster, an attractive compact filly, was purchased at yesterday's sale _at Addiaigtou by Captain B. H. Edkins, of Wellington, who has the speedy Endorse racing in his, colours. The new purchase will be handled by Endorse's trainer, H. Telford, of Trentham. Grand Knight will have his first race at the current Meeting in the Jockey Club Handicap to-day, and ii ho reproduces his Wellington form and recent track work at Riccarton, he should be a hard proposition over a mile journey.

Sudden Storm was badly interfered with in her race at Riccarton on Saturday last, but if she is better favoured to-day the sister to Childsplay should make her presence felt in the concluding event. The English-bred Hoylake was finishing on well at the end of seven furlongs on Monday, and should improve on that running in the Ashley Handicap to-day. The ex'-Riccarton horseman, O. Cullum, made his reappearance in the saddle at the Canterbury Park (Sydney) races on October, when he unsuccessfully piloted the favourite. Suncoil, owned by Mr E. J. Watt, in the Jumpers' Plat Race. The hurdle horses Dubious' and Clontarf were submitted for sale at the Addington Showgrounds yesterday, but neither elicited a bid. The former is down to contest the hurdle race to-day. Included in the winning list at the Victoria Park (Sydney) Gold Cup Meeting, was Ilka, who won the first division of a four and a half furlong race of £SOO, and prevailed in the runoff between the winners of the four divisions. This, marked Uka's third recent success out of four starts. Clareina ran third in another race, and unplaced ex-New Zealanders at the same Meeting were King's Folly and Power. Albert Wood, who retired from training some time ago, owing to illliealth, has quite recovered, and now finds an idle life little to his liking. In consequence, he is returning to the horses as soon as he has stables erected on a property he purchased at Warwick Farm, Sydney, some time ago. When previously training, most of the horses Wood had in work were owned by Mr "J. Baron," and when he resumes, it is certain he will again have a few of that owner's in his care. Sportsmen will find in "The Yeoman's" page of the "Weekly Press," published to-day, some very frank and informative comments on the Carnival Week racing. The "Weekly Press" also reproduces some fine views of Cup Day at Riccarton. The only yearling by The Tetrarch disposed of at the Doncaster (England) sales last month was a grev filly from Bettyhill. She realised 7000gns. The Tetrarch is sixteen years old, and was never a prolific foal-getter. He was not given any mares this year, and it is believed liis stud career lias ended.

Mr John McMahon and the other newly appointed A.J.C. stewards officiated as a body for the first time at the Moorefield Meeting on October 29th, and they made it clear that they do not intend to stand for many practices which, unfortunately, have been allowed on Sydney courses during recent years, says an Australian paper. Enquiries into several minor cases of interference and the imposition of fines of £5 on K. Bracken for occupying a wrong post position on Hazel Boy, and £2 on J. Finch, for using sharp on Shamash, should act as a warning to the boys that few of their misdemeanours are to escape official notice.

CANTERBURY J.C.

CANTERBURY CUP AND OAKS. TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME. The Metropolitan Meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club will be continued to-day, and again a well-filled programme is presented, the most important attractions being the Canterbury Cup, New Zealand Oaks, and Jockey Club Handicap. Limerick is to take his place in the first-named event, and his appearance alone should draw a large assemblage of the public. The day's card is as follows: 12.1—PORT COOPER HURDLES, of 230 SOVS. ljlTl, Projector .. 12 1 DubiouF .. 10 7 Aberfeldy ..11 2 Beauty Light 10 I Koauau ..11 1 Red Fuchsia 0 3 Kaikahu .. 10 10 Projector has been raised 131b. y for his win on Monday, but this should not trouble him to much extent. His most serious opponents appear to be Kaikahu and Beauty Light. Aberfeldy again jumped badly on Monday, but if he improves in his task to-day, he has the opportunity with 11-2 of contesting the finish.

On their running in the 'Welcome Stakes, Silver Paper and Silver Rule should fight out the issue, while a newcomer in Concentrate, a brother to Oratrix, showed promise in the Roseneath Handicap at Wellington. I.3I—OTAIO PLATE, of 350 sovs. Urn. Yonia ..97 Fresco ■. 711 Battlement .. The winner, however, may come from further down the list, and Ark Royal, who suffered badly at the dispatch*of the Derby field on Monday, and then ran a creditable race, appeals, while Vaward, who favours the distance, must also be respected. The public may sort out this trio, with a preference for Ark Royal.

Rapier, Te Monanui, Beacon Light, Romantic, Piuthair, David Garrick, Hynanna, Lady Desmond, and Satrap were the defections from New Zealand's longest distance race. The contest is certain to attract widespread interest by the presence of the champion Limerick, who will be sent out at a very short price. It would be idle to suggest his do.wnfall, but he will not be allowed to loiter over the concluding stages by. Star Stranger: This born stayer is the likely one of the remaining trio to be his nearest companion at the finish.

2.S6—JOCKEY CLUB HANDICAP, o£ SOO savs. lm. Reremoana .. 9 9 Set Sail .. 8 2 Beacon Light 9 1 Overhaul . . 8 0 Civility .. 8 13 Mandane .. 7 9 Grand Knight 813 Great Charter 7 6 Centrepiece .. 810 Wingatui 1 4

The large field handicapped for this event has been reduoed to ten, and the issue appears very open, in fact it is a difficult problem to even suggest likely plaoe-getters. Reremoana is a great miler, and he was on hand at the finish of the Criterion Handicap on Monday. Beacon Light registered an attractive performance in the Metropolitan Handicap, and would have been hard to head off at the end of the first mile. Civility was hot produced on the second day, and she must command respect. Grand Knight made a promising showing in the Champion Plate at Wellington, and if. he runs up to that form, his chance looks hopeful. Centrepiece is in need of racing, while Set Sail may nto be at her best. Of the others, Mandane possesses the best possibilties. To reduce the contestants to three, the names of Civility, Beacon Light, and Grand Knight are suggested.

On Hawke's Bay and Wellington running, Doree will be in demand for the fillies' race, but Eulalie, although an Absurd and recognised as a brilliant sprinter, may be able to master the distance. She was galloped a mile and a quarter on the plough, at Riccartori a couple of weeks before the Meeting, in comparatively good time, and was going well at the right end. A mile and a half is a big ordeal for her to tackle, but if she can conserve her pace over the early part, it would not be surprising; to see her prominent at the finish. Wild Pigeon has shown signs of staying on, but her form at this Meeting has not been disclosed owing to being deprived of a start in each of her two races to date. This is always a very popular event, and specultaon should be spirited, with the chances of- Eulalie. Doree, and Wild Pigeon best fancied.

4.2I—ASHLEY HANDICAP, of 250 sots. lm. Wanderlust .. 9 2 Arikiwai .. 7 9 Battle Colours 8 7 Grand National 7 5 Oratrix ..86 Wild Work .. 75 Avro .. 8 6 Thurnbell .. 7 1 Talisker .. 8 5 No Response 7 0 Hoylake .. 8 1 Kindle . . 7 0 Ladykiller .. 713 Slanther .. 7 0 Money Peer .. 7 9 Fifteen have been paid up for in the Ashley Handicap, and the public will have another chance of recouping their losses on Avro, but Wanderlust will probably again beat him. Oratrix won her race at the tail end of nine farlongs on Monday, and the. shorter distance may not suit her. This should be an even betting race, but a trio that will be well followed comprise Avro, Wanderlust, and Oratrix. S.S—AVON HANDICAP, of 350 sots. 7f. Paleta .. 9 3 Father Rascal . . 9 0 O'Flyun 7 12 Moorland . . 8 12 Arpent . . 7 11 Sagittarius .. 8 6 Royal Saxon 7 11 Lausanne .. 8 3 Kenmore .. 7 9 Black Duke .. 8 2 Moratorium . . 7 9 Arrowmir . . 8 1 Pickaninny . . 7 9 Monaghan . . 8 1 Gold Brick .. 7 9 Finora .. 8 0 Sudden Storm 7 9 Dismantle .. 712 Sarchee .. 7 9 The day's programme will conclude with the above, and favouritism will probably rest with Paleta and Rascal. Sagittarius is a fresh horse and may dispute the honours with this pair. NEW ENGLISH POLO AND HUNTING SADDLES. THE ROWLEY CASE

DISTRICT COMMITTEE'S FINDING. OWNER'S APPEAL SUCCEEDS.. The appeals lodged by Mr A. McDonald (owner), R. S. Bagby (trainer), and A. R. Parker (jockey) against the punishment inflicted by the judicial stewards of the Canterbury Jockey Club, on Mondav, in connexion with the Rowley incident, were dealt with by the District Committee yesterday afternoon and after hearing all the evidence available, and giving the matter full consideration, the committee arrived at the following finding:— "The District -Committee found that Rowley was deliberately pulled in the Riccarton Handicap on Saturday, and also found that the trainer, R. S. Bagby, was responsible for the instructions issued to the jockey, A. R. Parker. As there was no evidence to directly implicate the owner, Mr A. McDonald, and no evidence that he had backed any other horse in the race, the committee exculpated ilr McDonald, but dismissed the appeals of the trainer and jockey." The effect of the decision is that tho two years' disqualification imposed on the owner has heen wiped out, but the similar punishment meted out to the trainer and the suspension for twelve months, of the jockey still stands.

BLOODSTOCK SALE. ELDERSLIE YEARLINGS! Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., conducted their annual bloodstock sale at the Addington Show Grounds; yesterday morning, in the presence of a fair attendance of the public.
