ENGLISH TEAM IN SOUTH AFRICA. (BT CABLB—PSIBS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIG11T ) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z CABLB ASSOCIATION.) CAPE TOWN, November 1. The Marylebone team arrived all fit. Sutcliffe appeared to be the most shy member of the side. Pressed for an interview, he declared that he was very proud of his appointment as captain of Yorkshire. He pointed out that it was not quite correct to say that he was the first "Player" captain. He believed that there was one in the 'eighties, but that did not detract from the great honour conferred on him. Stevens, of Middlesex, said that the team had been specially selected for play on matting, including as it did only spin bow? rs 'f The captain, Stanyforth, -was diffident ot expressing his opinion on the probable result of the Test matches, in view of the fact tnai eight members -would play on matting lor the first time, and that South African cricket appeared to be on the up-grade. _ The visitors' first match is against Western Province on Saturday.
