dentation to council. A deputation of four from the National Council of Women waited on the City Council last night with reference to a proposal to establish a crematorium in Christchurch. Mrs C. A. Fraer said they represented a large section of the ratepayers. In the three years she had been working on the matter she had found this. A crematorium would have been a boon at the time of the epidemic in 1918. Cemetery areas were growing. Miss Jamieson dealt with the question from a health point of view. In Sydney cremation was becoming increasingly popular, she said. Cr. D. G. Sullivan asked whether the deputation had any figures relating to other cities.
