NARROW ESCAPE.
FAMILY IN BURNING HOUSE SUFFERING FROM BURNS. As the result of injuries received in a fire early yesterday morning, Patrick I Murphy. Mrs Murphy, and their son, Leo Murphy, are in the Ohristchurch Hospital, suffering from severe burns and cuts from broken glass. At 4.22 a.m. the Fife Brigade received a call to 12 Williams street, City, the call having been given by one of the neighbours who saw smoke issuing from one of the windows. It was a fiveroomed one storey wooden building, and the fire had broken out in the sittingroom. When the Brigade arrived Mr and Mrs Murphy were standing on the footpath, but the son was still in the house. The Brigade had just commenced work when Leo Murphy was seen climbing through one of the windows. He was assisted by one of the firemen. An ambulance, was immediately summoned, and the familv were taken to the hospital. -• The Brigade soon had the fire in hand, but the sitting-room was gutted, and the other rooms were damaged t>v heat and smoke. Mr and Mrs Murphy are an old couple, and the son is about 30 years of age. Mrs Murphy's face and arms were severely burned, and her foot was cut by broken glass. Mr Murphy's arms were badly burned, but Leo Mufphv's burns were still more serious. Their condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
