i The Archbishop of Canterbury's reply to the Bishop of Birmingham relieves us of the need to explain the recent cables with regard to Bishop Barnes and the Sacraments, states the "Church News." We believe that most Church people conversant with the true evolutionary theory will agree that Dr Barnes 'is striking at a bogey of his own creation. But he has certainly ridden roughshod over the most sacredly cherished beliefs regarding especially the Christian Sacraments, more, it may be, bv "words which may be interpreted as' reprobation and almost contempt for the great mass of Churchmen" than by actual -heresy.-' Church people are counselled to withhold their judgment r, ntl li U i rther d^ available than the cables supply, we do not eare to say more ourselves at present I
