YACHTING AT LYTTELTON.

Canterbury Yacht and Itolor Boat Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon in fine weather. TliTe was a cood gathering of yachtsmen and friends. The season was declared open by the t'ommodorc. -Mr W. T. T.p.-ter. who congratulated the club on the tin? showing it had made in yachting !a.-t year, and predicted nn even better i-v.-ison tn i-onie. He mentioned that the Summer Time Act would be of immense benefit in the sport, as yachtsmen who lived in the City wouid have ample time to gej down to port to have a sail in the long summer evpnings. A large number of yachts were out cruising in the inner and outer harbours, and a race was held. Afternoon tea was served in the club house.

The race resulted as follows:—Pauline (H. Forman) 1: Wetu (G. Brns.<ell) 2; We Mav (R. Taylor) 3. Gadfly (H. Norm) and Usher (F. Collins) also started.
