Presiding at a scientists' luncheon, Sir Alfred Mond announced the perfection of a new antiseptic derivative from coal tar called "Monsol." . Lieutenant-General Sir Arthur Sloggett, a well-known 6urgeon, said that it possessed great \ ; irtues. It was nonpoisonous, intensely germicidal, could be applied to the skin.or throat, could be taken internally, or could be injected_ in the blood, and in those four situations it was possible to attack three-quarters of the known' infectious diseases. . ■
