The Et. Rev. J. Whyte, D.D., Roman Catholic Bishop of Dunedin, has arrived in' Christchurch to attend: the opening ceremony of the Sacred, Heart Girls' College on Sunday afternoon.
At last night's meeting of the Technical College Board, of Governors, a motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr W. J. Jenkin, who was a member of the Board, was passed.:
Mr W. A. Armour, principal of the Napier Boys' High School, has been appointed principal of the Wellington College in the place of Mr T. R. Cresswell. who is resigning on account of ill-health. Mr Armour will take up his new duties in February.—Press Association.
Mr F. J. Ricketts, under whose baton the band of the 2nd Battalion Argyll arid Sutherland Highlanders played at the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition of 192-5-26, has besn appointed conductor of the equally famous band of the Royal Marine's stationed at Deal (England) and has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
