The singing of the birds; the distant, calling of the cows; the exercises in bed; tho early cup of tea. 5 a.m.—The reading and writing; the cold bath. 6 a.m.—The feeding of tho fowls, the ducks, and the calf; the preparation of breakfast. 9 a.m.—The singing practico; tho dancing exercise with gramophone. 10 a.m.—The interview with the gardener; the quarrel about fruit and vegetables; the quarrel about pruning the roses; the quarrel about tho fowls getting into tho garden—tho remembrance of who you are; the dignified TOtreat; the morning toa on the verandah; the trying over new gramophone rocords; the shrill whistle of the steamer; tho rush to get tho mail bag ready; tho opening of tho mail; the two invitations; the three charity appeals; tho eight bills; the feeling of discontent. 1 p.m.—The preparation of lunch; tho telephone call from town; the disappointment; tho slight snooze over book; tho yawn; tho ro-birth with toa. 4 p.m.—Tho walk with tho dogs; tho mental humming of "When the Swallows Homeward Fly"; tho mental humming of "So Blue"; the palling of the retriever from the penguin's nest; the scolding 0* tho retriever for carrying a hedgehog; tho lovely view--6 p.m.—The preparation of dinner. 8 p.m.—Tho delicious coffee; the discussion of tho wireless; tho discussion of tho horses and prospects for polo; the discussion of the new shingle. 10 p.m.—The retirement to bed. The dazed undressing. The sigh of relief.
