ACCESS TO THE SEA. IPS ESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) ROTORUA, November 4. Tiia formal opening by the removal of tapu from the new cut at Ongatore, "ivins access to the Kaituna river to the sea by an old re-opened channel, took place' yesterday. Representatives of all the Arawa tribes, the Arawa Trust Board, aud the Kaituna River Board attended. One thousand people were present, and there was a great tribal enthusiasm.

The chairman of the Kaituna River Board formally declared the cut open, launches motoring over the bar under flags stretched over the river. A bis; banquet and many speeches followed.

Telegrams -*were received . from the Prime Minister, and Sir A. Ngata sending congratulations and expressing a hope for the success of the project.
