OPENING PRACTICE.
Ohristchurch, Amuri, and Parcora Polo Clubs were represented yesterday afternoon at tho opening practice m the South Park. " A strong westerly wind was blowing, otherwise the condtious were ideal. Most of the ponies were in good condi-tion,-several veterans again appearing but the games were typical ot t V "beginning of tho season, most of tlie contestants, taking- play steadily foi their first appearance. Goals were not verv numerous. \ ... . Altogether seven practice . chukkaswere played, many changes being made in the teams. If the dry weather continues the ground, should improve rapidlv. Nest week practice games will be played on several days, and in March the New Zealand tournament will be held in Cliristchurcli. Air J G Macdonald was the mnpiro and Sir Charles Campbell was timekeeper. Players.taking part wore- as follows:—R,'Gould, Major G. Hutton, G. Grigg, W. McKenzie, A. S. Elworthv, H. Elworthy, H. Macdonald, (I. Hcnnessy, H. G. Livingstone, M. W. Baker, and D. Gould.
