"Improvement in night flying iB one of the most important factors in the development of Empire air routes," declared Sir Sefton Brancker (Air ViceMarshal), in the course of a lecture. "Even with our existing aircraft and night-flying experience, if we had the money we could give a 17' days' service from London to Melbourne, which could be reduced by 179 .hours five years hence, -when long night-stages and good refuelling methods are organised."
