AVONSIDE CLUB. The men's singles championship of the Avonside Lawn Tennis Club was decided yesterday afternoon, when D. F. Glanville beat S. D." Denton, 6-0, 6-3. The match was fairly evenly contested, although Glanville had the better of the games in the second set, keeping his opponent moving about the court. Denton often came up to the net, but was beaten by good drives down the sideline.
PRIMARY SCHOOLS. The primary schools' tennis competitions will start on Wednesday next. The date originally fixed was Monday, but as the proficiency examinations will be in progress then the date was altered to Wednesday.
