At the brewers' exhibition the absence of South African entrants in tho Empire wine competitions robbed them of much interest. Australian entries we're also poor. . Sparkling wines attracted sixteen competitors, but in some classes there were only one or two. There were twelve Australian and four New Zealand entries m the Colonial bariey competition. Canterbury (New Zealand) won the hrst prize and Yorke Peninsula, South Australia, the second and third.
