At a meeting of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association last night the chairman (Mr W. Flewellyn) drew=>attention to the fact that the father of a member. Mr E. Todd, had died since the last meeting. A motion of sympathy with Mr Todd was recorded. Mr Phillip Best, chairman of the Waimea Countv Council, was accorded a civio reception yesterdav and presented with an' illuminated address and a nurse of sovereigns in recognition of "his fifty years' service on most of the public bodies of Nelson city and district.—Press Association.
