Yesterday's markets were quiet and the number of transactions recorded was snail. There was no decline in prices, in fact, the sales that were recorded were at slightly higher figures. Industrials were particularly dull and will probably remain so until the prices of gilt-edged stock 3 rise to a figure that will only give a small return to the investor. In the Stock and Bond market £3OO 5; per cent. 1933 stock was sold at £lOl ss, but buyers were not satisfied, more being wanted at that price. For bond 3 of this issue buyers offered £lOl 7a 6d without attracting sellers. 11 per cent. 1938 and 1933 bonds and stocks were- uligbtly firmer at buyers £96 7s 6d, seiler3 £96 10s. Other issues were firm at late rates. -In the banking section, Bank of Adelaids held with buyers offering £3 16s Gd, sellers £S 19s 6d—a sale taking place at £3 173 6d. . 100 Australian Bank of Commerce changed hands at 323 9d, market closed buyers 32s 9d, sellers 335. Commercial Bank of Australia had a sale of 100 shares at 2Ss lOd. This did not satisfy the market, bjiyers quoting OSs 10d,' sellers £)s. Bank of New South Wales were fractionally firmer and sales were offected at £li is, 20 shares changing hands it that price, mcvek- u iiniahed buyers £U 2s 6d, sellers i' 44 sa. Bonk of New Zealand had some attention, sales taking place on a parity with previous day' 3 markets 100 at 583, 300 at 38s lid. and 100 at 5Ss 3d being released ; market held at buyers 58a Id, sellers 5Ss '2d. Union Bank buyers offered £l3 13s without sellers quoting Rights to the new shares were eoid at ols &i and o'-s, market clo?ed 51s 3d buyers, 52s sellers. Fractional rights sold at '■ 9s 3d, buyers offering Ds 2d, sellers 9s 4d.
In. the miscellaneous investment section, £l3 11a was bid for Dalgety and Co., Ltd., £o paid shares cum dividend, sellers offering at £l3 14s New shares in this company were buyers £l3 Is 6d, sellers £l3 2s (3d. Goldsbrouqh, Morts were firm at buyers 17s 9d, eellers ISs. New Zealand and River Plates entered the buying list at 275, but sellers did not respond. New Zealand Refrigerating partly-paids were firm at Tuesday's closing price Sa, and a parcel was sold at this figure, leaving further buyers at 83, sellers S3 Id. The brewery market was o t uiet but firm at late prices. A margin of Gd .separated buyers and sellers of J. Staples and Co. at 38s and 38s Cd respectively. Electrolytic Zino preference had raising tendency, buyers offering 325, ..sellers asking 82s 3d, while for the ordinary shares' buyers ■ offered SOs -unsuccessfully. Two parcah of Guarantee Corporation changed hand at 8s Bd, which is slightly higher than last-recorded busi-. r.tss. Automatic Totalisato;*, Sydney, were wanted at 13s Sd. In the mining section quotations were: Kawarau, buyers lOd, sellers Is- 2d; Mt. Liell, buyers 27s 6d, sellers 27s 8d; Waihi (cum div.), buyers 22s 3d, scllera 22s 3d.
