RUDDIGORE." Very cordial was the welcome accorded the members of the Gilbert and Sullivan Comic Opera Company, who 'opened a twelve-night season at the Theatre iloyal last night. Miss Strella Wilson, with her beautiful voice and lovely, fair hair, proved as popular us ever, in the fresh role of ltose Maybud, who could- transfer her ardent affections from man to man with most convenient ease. Her old world frock of shot green taffeta with rucked'hem, tightly laced bodice over a dainty white blouse, and panniered over-skirt of. pea-green poplin suited her splendidly. in the second act she appeared as a. bride, firm in her determination to marry Richard Dauntless, • played by James Hay, who uses his heart as a compass, and under whose lee the amorous lady became temporarily becalmed. But despite his delightful voice and almost incredible agility, she forsakes him at the last moment. But her ohannint; panniered wedding {,own of shell pink satin, with front panel of ivory ' tulle, embroidered on pink and green,- and her ...tulle veil and wreatH of orange blossom are not waited, for immediately, without even looking to • see if her wreath- was straight, she decided-to wed 3 her first love.
