TIMBER YARD SITE.
AN INDUSTRIAL AREA ? Members referred critically to the town planning legislation at the monthly meeting of the Canterbury Master Builders' Association last evening. Mr W. J. Loader wrote asking the Association to support his application to the City Council to open a timber yard in Moorhouse avenue, near South Hagley Park. The acting-secretary, Mr W. Glue, said the application had been discussed by the City Council on two occasions. It might be rejected on the ground that the locality was not regarded as an industrial area. It was decidled to write to the Council supporting the application, as in the Association's opinion, and so far as members could, see, the proposed site was in an industrial area.
Approval was expressed of Cr. A. W. Beaven's motion that the City Council have a map prepared setting out business and residential areas, and it was decided to ask the Council to define an industrial area.
