FIRES.

STOREROOM AND GOODS DESTROYED. (VSISS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) CAMBRIDGE, November 1. At six o'clock to-night an outbreak of fire occurred in unoccupied business premises owned by Messrs 13. Souter and Co., in Ihike street, resulting in the destruction of a small adjoining storeroom, one wall of the premises being badly burnt. Despite a westerly wind, the brigade prevented the fire from spreading. Five hampers of samples ready packed. for removal, containing soft goods and fur coats, to the estimated value of £IOOO, in the storeroom, were totally destroyed. They were the property of Messrs'Sargood, Son, and Ewen.

The premises, which are among the oldest buildings in Cambridge, are insured for £IOO in the New Zealand Office, It is not known whether the samples were covered by insurance.
