SELWYN PLANTATIONS
MEETING OF BOARD. The Selwyn Plantation Board met yesterday morning. Present: Messrs W. Stewart (chairman), H. A. Miller, G. Hall, C. H. Adams, ,G. Scott, K. Nairn, C. Wolfe, and W. P. Spencer. The monthly financial report showed a credit balance of £786 6s 6d. The credit balance brought forward from the previous month was £271 17s 3d. The amount, collected from rents amounted to £702 17s sd, the receipts totalling £1298 14s Id. The superintendent (Mr B. G. Robinson) reported that satisfactory progress had been made with the various works carried on during the month. , . , f A resolution was passed thanking Mr H. H. Thorn and party," of Hororata, for their assistance in suppressing the outbreak of fire at Steel's Toad. Owing to the prompt action, taken, no damage had been caused to the trees.
The superintendent reported that permission could not be given for a proposed shooting party to enter the plantation with fire-, arms during November, when in many cases the surface is in an inflammable condition. The letter was received.
An application for permission to tako over a property situated on the South-road, Burnham, now leased from the, Board by Messrs Kibblewhite and Yaughan, was made by Mr George Witte, of Rata street, Ricearton. The application was declined, but will- be reviewed at a later date when the property in question is restored to a condition satisfactory to the Board's superintendent. '
