College Committee. The College.Committee; reported:—■ Having been.advised by the Rector that Dr. Deribam had been re-olected deputy-chairman of the Professorial Board. Having been advised by the Professorial Board of the following, awards of_»cholar. ships: John Connal scholarship, J* L. Holland; Sir George Grey, scholarship, Hugh N 'HaVin6'recelved a report from Mr Foweraker on tho spring camp-recently held in connexion, with the School of Forestry Having recoiveda donation of iIOO from the Oanterbury Chamber of. Commerce together with a letter expressing appreciation ot assistance rendered to the Chamber ■_ by the Economics- Department of the College Having received a contribution of ±.IOO from the Society of ' Accountants, • together with an 'intimation'that the contribution is to be discontinued. * The committee recommended: — That a letter of thanks be sent to the Very Rev. Dean Carrington for his gilt to the College Library of a four-volume edition of Garuett's "English Literature Illustrated." ... , 1 T> - That a letter of thanks be sent to lrofessor Wall for his gift to the College ot a large engraving "Hollar's London in 164,, and that the engraving be framed and hung in the "Little Theatre.' - • . That, in accordance with a recommendation of the Professorial Board, the Haydon prize in chemistry be awarded to Hugh is. a ■ compulsory 10s subscription be charged for all matriculated students taking a University course, and all non-matriculated students, other than those in the Faculty of Engineering, taking four or more hours lecture per week: Such subscriptions to be paid into the Students' Association Consolidated Account and to be in addition to the present compulsory fee of 5s paid by all students taking lectures at the College, 'jfhe report >vas adopted.

High Schools and Hostels. The High School and Hostel Committee reported having received a- letter from the Ladv Principal expressing the appreciation of the teaching staff and pupils of the assistance given by members of the Board of Governors in connexion with the recent celebrations of the school jubilee. The committee recommended: —' That leave of absence on. account of illhealth be granted for the third term to Miss M. P. Morrell, of the Girls' High School staff, and that Miss •M. and Miss E. K. Scott be appointed temporary assistants to undertake Miss Morrell's duties; That Miss E. Fairbairn, of the Girls' High School staff, be granted leave of absence without salary for the school year of 1928 to enable her to visit England and' take a special diploma course in geography and mathematics at Cambridge University.. Tho report was adopted. Museum and Library-Committee. The committee reported that a sum 'bf £24 7s has been paid into the funds of the Children's Library as a result of • the series of popular lectures recently held 3t the Public Library. It was recommended that a vote of thanks be passed to the following for their services in connexion with the series of popular lectures recently delivered .-it the Public Library:—Mrs Gore Newell, Mr Yernon Griffiths, Mi- Edgar Stead, Mr T. W. Rowe, Professor A. J. Grant, and Professor J. Shelley. The report was-adopted.-
