Forecast. The evening forecast is strong north-west to westerly winds north ot Westport and Akaroa, and strong southerlies thence southwards, willi generally moderate to rough «oas. There will be calcs in tho Cook Straits recion and off tho East Coast of tho South Island, but these will be moderating. The weather will be cloudy and unsettled generally with rain, heavy in parts of Canterbury and Otago, with hail in places. The weather will be improvinE on the West Coast of tho South Island. The temperature will be cold. The barometer at Wellington was 29.70 at 3 p.m. -.
