MALVERN POWER BOARD.
♦ " MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of • the . Malvern Electric Power Board there were present: Messrs G. Judd (chairman), G. Hall, H. A. Miliar, W..W. Mulholland, and H. Oliver. Mr Jokn Deans forwarded an apology for absence.
The revised form of power supply agreement forwarded by the Public Works Department was discussed, and it was .decided to communicate with the other power supply authorities supplied from Lake Coleridge and obtain their opinions before making any definite arrangement with the Department. The tender of the Eclipse Fence Co. was accepted for the supply of a netting fence and gates for the Board's sections in Darfield. The Malvern County Council applied for two street lights for Coalgate, two for Whitecliffs, and three for Glentunnel. The lights that could be immediately erected at low cost were authorised, the remainder being left over for the engineer-secretary to report upon at the next meeting. He was also instructed to advise the County Council that any additional costs incurred by the erection of certain lights would be collected from the County Council by the Board, and not from any private individuals. The Tawera County Council applied for a further light for Springfield, which was authorised. Stephens and Co., Waddington. wrote with respect "to the cancellation of their guaranteed revenue agreement. The request was not granted. The secretary to the Electric Power Boards Association forwarded a questionnaire asking for the amounts paid by the Board for the past five years for insurances effected under each class of insurance, and for the total claims paid out by insurance companies in the same period. The Association also wished to know whether the Board would be agreeable to transferring its jiolicies to any approved insurance office should the Association be able to obtain more favourable rates by placing the combined risks of all Power Boards with the same company. It was resolved to fall in with this request, and the engineer-secretary was instructed to supply the information and to enquire whether mutual policies bad been considered by the Association.
The engineer's report said the Cogan-Kim-berley extension had been completed, and the permission of the P. and T. Department and the Public Works Department to liven it up was being awaited. Street lights had been erected in Waddington and Annat. and a number of services and transformers altered to provide for the installation of further cookers. The connected load had increased by 21 k.w. since the previous meeting, the total now.being 1409 k.w. : The. question of a maintenance staff was discussed by members, and it was resolved to call applications for the position of - • a line maintenance foreman at a salary of £286 per year.
