GALE IN ENGLAND.
MANY LIVES LOST. (BI CiBLI PBI3B ABSOCUTIOir—COPIBIOHT). [AUSTBALUW AS& H.2. CABLI ASSOCIATION.) (Received October 30th, 11.20 p.m.) LONDON, October 29. More than twenty lives were lost in a great ga!e in England during the week-end. There were accidents of all descriptions and telephone and telegraph wires are down everywhere. The storm also affected the broadcasting beam services. Sea defences were broken down at Fleetwood, where the streets were flooded and five people drowned. Many homes were destroyed and people slept in the schools and cinemas. The river Lune overflowed its banks and flooded the Lancaster isolation hospital. Three tuberculosis patients sleeping in the grounds were drowned. Six houses were unroofed at Blackpool.
DEATH-ROLL INCREASES. • (AUSTRALIA* AND K.». CABLI ASSOCIATION.) (Received October 31st, 12.50 a.m.) LONDON, October 30. -The gale death-roll has been increased by twelve fishermen who were drowned at Clegganbay, Oouaty Galwav.
