The Italian steamer Isabo, bound from Montreal to Hamburg, went ashore on the rocks at the Stilly Isles. Fishermen rescued twenty-seven members of the crew, but it is thought that there were eleven still aboard. Heavy seas drove back the life-boats, which were attempting to reach the Isabo, which broke in halves. At dawn a member of the crew swam ashore, despito tho tremendous waves, and three others, spurred on by his success, plunged in, but a life-boat rescued them exhausted. A life-boat eventually reached the Isabo, and found a man in tho crow's nest, dead from exposure. The remainder of the crew were missing, and it is believed that they clung to wreckage and drifted out to sea. [The Isabo is a vessel of 6827 tons, and was built in 1914. Her dimensions nre: Length. 422 feet; beam, 54 feet; depth. 27.4 feet.]
