PAPANUI SCHOOL BAZAAR.
In aid of the school picnic fund, a bazaar was held in the Papanui School on Saturday afternoon and evening. In the absence of'the Hon. Mr Buddo, M.P., Mc T. Jeal, chairman of the committee, opened the fair. Ho' stated that it required about £7O to give the children the annual bating and hoped that all would do their utmost to provide that ninount. During the afternoon the Papanui Band made their first public appearance and rendered an excellent ■ programme. Much interest was taken in an exhibition of all kinds of works done by Hie scholars. The stalls and stallholders were: Flower stall, Mcadames Pimm and Sandfoid: tea stall, Mesdames T. Jeal, F. and L Claridge; variety Btall, Mesdames Gates, Woods, r.nd Allington; sweets stall, Mrs Chaney; produce stall, Messrs F. W. Sisson; C. Dyer, and G. Allington: cake stall, the lady teachers and helpers; side-shoW3, Messrs Jeal, Pimm, and Clarid?e. At the. conclusion the unsold goods were auctioned by Mr D. Park.
