TRAMWAY BOARD ELECTION.
MR WALTER'S CANDIDATURE. Mr W. J. Walter, who has been a member of tho Tramway Board for the last ten years, and who is again seeking re-election, met a large number of friends and supporters in the Shirley Methodist Schoolroom recently. Mr J. Liggins, president of the Burwood Progressive League, occupied the chair. Mr Walter gave a short resume ot tramway matters, and answered several questions. At the conclusion of his address it was unanimously agreed to support Mr Walter's candidature, aud those present formed themselves into a committee to work for him and secure his return. Mr Walter also visited South Brighton and met a large number of his friend's and supporters in the hall. Councillor Muirson occupied the chair. Mr AValter spoke on tramway matters, and at the conclusion of his address Mr AY. rTulme, president of the South Brighton Progr«!~s League, moved: "That this meeting has full confidence in Mr Walter as its member on the Tramway Board, and that this meeting form itself into a committee to secure his return.'' This was seconded by Councillor T. Robins and carried unanimousiv.
