DRUNKEN MOTORIST.
FINED AND PROHIBITED. (PHESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBASI.) WELLINGTON, October ££>. Charles Andrew Hebend, a married man, aged forty-three, pleaded guilty at Petone to being drunk while in charge of a car. His counsel said that he had been driving around with a wine merchant, and had had occasion to visit several hotels. He had not actually driven the car when drunk. The Justices, however, took a serious view of the case, holding that Hebend wol _ probably have ted to drive off if the police had not intervened. They imposed, a fine of £2O, and prohibited Hebend from holding a license for twelve months. He was also prohibited.
