GROCERY STORE BURGLED.
GOOD SUPPLY OF TOBACCO TAKEN. [THE PEEBS BpecUl Serrie*.] AUCKLAND, October 29. Last night hurglars -were at work in Avondale, visiting G.-K. Gilliam and Co.'s supply stores for the second time within six nionths. Tho grocery is a two-storeyed building-of the lockup shop variety. Entrance was effected through a rear window. The office was thoroughly ransacked for money and valuables, 'and documents and papers were pulled out of drawers and pigeon-holes and strewn on the floor. From the office the thieves secured a few shillings in change. Between £ls and £2O worth of tobacco and cigarettes was stolen' from the shop. Ab'out six months ago burglars broke into Mr Gilliam's shop and removed the heavy safe out on the roadway, but they were disturbed while endeavouring to blow it onen and escaped. On that occasion they got nothing from the shop.
