BALANCE-SHEET FIGURES. INCREASES IN EXPENDITURE. The balance-sheet of the Tramway Board for the year ended March 31st last has been made available. m« principal results of the year's.; operations, resulting in a surplus of £l*n»> wero published shortly after the close or tho financial year. The balance-sheet contains many details of interest Ft onv the net earnings, £79,761, was deducted mid credited to tho. Renewals Fund £17,770 (previous year ,£13,08b) and to the Depreciation Fund £2ioo (previous year £6758). Total to Renewal and Depreciation Funds, £20.038; previous year £19,844. Interest on sinking fund called lor £58.402; previous vear, £07,609. Of the £9BOB increase shown m the total of cash fare ticket sales, concession card sales, school ticket sales,- and' . apprentices' ticket sales, increased revenue h -0 " 1 cash faro ticket sales represents £891o; but this figure is reduced by refunds of racecourse admission moneys, the amount of which is not shown separately. Special trams and buses brought in £lOl7, as compared with £690 the previous vear; and advertising on cars £2696, as compared with £2238.Increases in Expenditure.
On the -expenditure the principal increases shown are: —Superintendence, traffic, nncl motor inspectors, traffic clerks, £3957; (previous year £3703). Wages of motormen, conductors, and Lus drivers, £87,275 (£80,594). Cleaning and oilm K cars and buses. .£6591 : (£8173). Salaries of general officers and staff, members fees, audit fees £5311: (£1915). Printiiicc an.l stntionerv. printing public and working time-tables, £1921 (£1509). Firo 'mid other insurances. £1991 ; (CIGS2). Electric power expenses, Jess credit for power supplied to P.AV.D.. ."nd others. £20,592 (£16,879). Included in above: Power from Lake Cokriike, £1(1.101 (£10.122). Credit for r>;>wcr supplied P.TV.D. and others, £2173 (£02(3).
