Discussing the flag agreement, the "Cape Times" pays a tribute to the influence of the speeches delivered by Mr L. S. Aniery and declares: "What Mr Amery said came as a breath of clean, cool air into the heated roomful of quarrelling people. Mr Amery's wise and courageous speeches were an important, if not a decisive factor."
