The Government has made furthei arrests. It has announced that it is determined to crush any attempted Carolist coup. M. Manoilescu's letters included appeals to political leaders, urging tae repeal of the law dethroning Prince Carol and appointing h-is son ruler, also a proclamation addressed to the people calling on them to declare themselves in Prince Carol's favour if they wished him to return. Prince Carol's wife, the Princess Helene, suddenly quitted Bucharest. It is understood she has gone on a holiday to Florence for several months. It is semi-officially given out that her presence in the capital is not desirable should a conflict arise. It is also urged that Prince Carol's mothor is better able to support the Government's policy than is the Princess Helene. It is believed that Prince Carol has a large following among the army.

TROOPS POSTED. (aostk'aliah and h.z. cabli association; (Received October 26th, 7.15 p.m.) VIENNA, October 35. The Rumanian Government has posted detachments of troops in public buildings. This warned its opponents that the slightest agitation will result in the arrest of the leaders, together with a proclamation of a state of siege throughout Rumania. M. Bratianu is summoning all .parties to meet on Thursday publicly to declare their attitude towards the present regime. Those not accenting will be branded enemies of the State and will be tried for high treason.
