UNREST IN CHINA.
BANDITS IN YANGTSE GORGES. ATTACKS ON TRADING CENTRES. (BT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIA* AND H.Z. CABL* ASSOCIATION.) SHANGHAI, October 25. Taking advantago of the inoccupation of the military in combating the menace raised by the advance of the Nanking forces on Hankow, bandits are swarming in the Yangtse gorges, attacking the principal trading centres. The Ichang, Chungking, and Wanhsien authorities aro powerless to suppress outrages in the cities. Vessels in the vicinity have been wantonly looted.
Tho military have been appealed to without result. The latter are .commandeering steamers, irrespective ofnationality, for the transportation of reinforcements to assist in repelling the advance of the Nanking troops.
