The judges for the evening were: Pianoforte, Miss B. Pollard: elocution, Mr J. R. Lester; vocal, Mrs C. J. Gallop.. The following aro the recalls:— ' Recitation, Class A, Section 2, Union Solection, "Life's Aims"—Ella Marshall (Edgeware), Molly Mooro (St. Paul's), Rona Hill (Edgeware), Miretta Shier (Durham stroot south), Noeline Whittington (Durham street south). Piano Solo, Class C, Union Selection, "Introduction and Fucaro" (Cuthbert Harris)— Louise_ Ividdcll (St. Paul's), Alister Thomson (Knox), Dulcie Howlett (Spreydon Baptist), Ethel Poster (Hope, of Opawa, 1.0. R.). Humorous Character Sketch, Section 1— Clivo MacNeil (Durham street south), Rona Hill (Edgeware), Joan Hughes (Durham street south). Vocal Duet, Section 1, Own Selection— Doris Donnelly and Gracio Nixon (St. Paul's), 73 per cent., 1. Tho competitions will be continued in St. Paul's School Hall, Lichfield street, this evening, when the following sections will be judged:—Pianoforte solo, Class A; sacred soln, Section 1, girls; vocal solo, Class A, girls.

TEMUKA. The Temuka competitions were "continued on Wednesday nft-ernoon and evening, under auspicious circumstances. In both vocal and instrumental sections, some clever talent was revealed. The final sessions will be held to-day. Results: Song, girls under 17, own selection— Graco E. McGarva, "Summer,'' 154 points, 1; Jessio A. Brownlee, "Garden of Sleep," IB points, 2; Iris Smith, "When Song is Sweet," 141 points, 3; Patricia, Dwan, '.'Heart of Gold," 139 points, li c. Also competed: Miria, Paiki, Edith M. Cross, Winnie Ives. The judge remarked that tho winner had a nice quality voice, and gave a pleasing rendering o£ a difficult song. Recitation, girls 18, and over; own selection—Miria Paiki, "True Friendship," sole competitor, 166 points 1. The judge complimented tho winner on her very -excellent performance. Recitation, girls under 18; test, "The Singers" (Longfellow)— Myrtle E. Jameson, 140 points, 1; Iris Smith, 13G points, 2; Joy Greenfield and Elsio Williams (equal), 135 points, 3. Also competed: Miria. Paiki, Jessio Doyle, Peggy South. Piano Solo, under 10; own selection—Una Fitzgerald, 158 points, 1; Dorothy Hancox, 153 points, 2; Arthur Chambeis, 150 points, 3; Thomas Fitzgerald, 148 points, h c. Also competed: Incell Chambers, Ellen Head, Molly Simes. The winner gave an exceedingly, finisned performance, and revealed natural ability beyond the ordinary in one so young. 'Recitation, Boys under 14; test, "Tho Moon is Up" (Alfred Noyes)—-'Randall Heron, 152 points, 1; George 11. Townley and Charles Heron (equal), 151 points, 2. Also competed: Archie Gillanders, Edgar -Taylor, Te Toraki Paipeta, Stewart Dawkins, Abiatha Solomon. Piano Duet, under 21: own selection— Myrtle Harris and May Killop, 128 points, 1; Pamela Coombs and Miss Barron, and Ngaire Keys and May Hoare (equal) 2. National Dance, including Sailor's Hornpipe, under 16—Mollie Joynt (hornpipe), 149 points, 1; Coral Pierce (hornpipe), 146 points, 2; Hector McMillan (Highland fling), 145 points, 3. . Also competed: Joyce E. Henry, Ella Doyle, Gwenda M. Henoy, .Betty Salmon, Joyce Joynt. Dorothy Keys, Joyce Sewell. Unison Song, for children attending primary school; test, "Slow, Horses, Slow," second section —Orari School A team, t 167 points, 1; Mrs J. Derenzy's team, 161 points, 2; Orari School B team, 159 points, h c. Also competed: Mrs Hutcheson's B team, Mrs Hutcheson's A team, Temuka School B team, Orari C team. This class was taken in two sections, the first part being heard on Monday evening. There were thirteen teams altogether, and at' tho conclusion the judge conducted the massed teams.
