SUNDAY HOURS AT PETROL STATIONS.
TO THB EDITOR OT THE PRESS. Sir, —I notice that in its discussion cn Sunday closing of petrol stations, that the Canterbury Automobile Association adopted a very selfish attitude toward those employed and showed a want of consideration for others that is to bo deplored. The Association members mostly use their cars for pleasure on a Sunday, and it would not be a hardship for them to get a supply of petrol on the Saturday Many of the owners are not able to employ labour and are tied to the work seven days in the week, including holidays. Surely these men should be considered, and I am sure that after a littlo consideration many of the members of the Association would alter their views on the matter. Mr Harley mentions the tramway employees. The cose is altogether different, as the men aro paid extra for the work, and the fares increased, but tho Association want the convenience of the stations being open without increasing the price of petrol. I trust that the City Council will ins'st on the stations Jveing closed on the Sunday and earn the thanks of at l&ist some of the owners.—Yours, etc., PETROL.
