ALLEGED ASSAULT AND ROBBERY.

MAN AND WOMAN CHARGED. Allegations of assault and theft were heard in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when Anker Jakob C. Jensen and Marjorie Oliver were charged beforo Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M. Jensen (Mr Batchelor) was charged with heing found without lawful excuse on the enclosed premises of James Henderson, 23 Dean street, with assaulting Jervis Wilson so as to cause actual bodily harm, with robbing him while using personal violence, with assaulting -Agnes Wilson, and with assaulting Annie Ellen Lord. The woman, Oliver (Mr Malley), was charged with being found on Henderson's premises, with being a rogue and vagabond, and with robbing Wilson of £5. . The minor charges against the two accused were,' by the consent of the Magistrate and counsel, adjourned until after the Supreme Court session. Senior-Sergeant Fitzpatrick outlined the nature of the alleged offence. The two accused came down from Wellington and went to Mr and Mrs Wilson's home, taking beer with them. Jensen, alleging that the Wilsons had robbed him, proceeded to "clean them up." Wilson was. badly knocked about and his collar-bone was. broken. AVhen the police searched Jensen later they found the money he said was stolen, still in his sock. \ . • -Lengthy evidence was given by.the Wilsons and by Mrs Lord, who was at the house at the time, in regard to the alleged assault and Jensen's taking of a nurse from Wilson, Mr Malley submitted that there was no case against Oliver, and no jury would bring a conviction against her. Mr Batchelor considered the charge against Jensen should be reduced, as no intention to robbery was disclosed. • The Magistrate: I think it calls for an explanation. Mr .'Batchelor: In that case I'll reserve the defence. . I The accused were committed to the Supremo Court for trial.
